Matt has been cast as Orsino in the English Repertory Theatre production of ‘Twelfth Night’.
This is their first show and it will be previewing at Leatherhead Theatre in Surrey from Nov 23rd – 26th followed by a season at the Arts Theatre, Leicester Square in London’s West End from Dec 1st – 19th and Jan 3rd – 16th.
Matt has been cast as Vince in ‘Three Minute Hero’. Vince is a sleazy, bisexual night club owner who runs swingers nights!
The play will be running at the Cock Tavern Theatre in Kilburn, London (a new fringe theatre venue) from October 28th – Nov 14th.
The play is by Phil Setren (Artistic Director of the London New Play Festival) and is being directed by Julie Osman.
Matt is participating in the 24-hour Shakespeare Bardathon.
It takes place outdoors on the South Bank of the Thames at the Scoop from noon on October 30th to noon on October 31st.
Matt will be in one 4-hour section performing in three plays – casting TBC.

Matt appeared as a uniformed police officer in ‘Girl Number 9′ for a two- day shoot at Elstree Studios.
The shoot is for a series of internet episodes that will be used to seek funding from a major TV network for an ongoing broadcast series.
The talented writer/directors are Dan Turner and James Moran. There is also some serious acting talent attached including Gareth David-Lloyd from ‘Torchwood’ and two Eastenders’ stars (Tracy-Ann Oberman and Joe Absolom).
The series of internet ads will be launched on a specially designed website in November this year.

Matt shot a couple of scenes for the ‘Making Of Beached Whale’ documentary recently in Bondi. It is now live at ABC online.
He plays a snooty acting coach who takes himself far too seriously while giving acting lessons to Nick Boshier (the voice of the whale).
Award winning New Zealand actor, Sam Neill, is also appearing in the documentary as an auditionee for the role of the whale!

Matt has been offered a small role (playing a character called Matt) in the feature film ‘Jacob’. The film is being produced by UK production company ‘Angel Motion Pictures’.
The film has a budget of £5M and will be shot in Lincolnshire later in the year.
2009 EDINBURGH FESTIVAL
Matt will be performing at the 2009 Edinburgh Festival. He will be appearing in three short plays at The Space @ Jury’s Inn. Two of the plays are called ‘The Badger Game’ and ‘Mulv’ – both written by renowned Sydney playwright, Kate Toon (who wrote the play Matt appeared in at the Short & Sweet Gala Finals in 2008).
Matt stars as Andrew Beauclerk in Azazel’s Feast….a unique, fresh take on the traditional radio play format to be presented at the Carriageworks in Redfern.
Based on the play of the same name by G. G. Hemmings, Azazel’s Feast is an unprecedented event in theatre and sound.
Set mostly in hell at a dinner party hosted by the devil, Azazel’s Feast tells the story of Andy Beauclerk (Matt Butcher), a successful but disillusioned author, and his timid niece Olivia, who are astonished to find themselves in hell at dinner with the Devil.
DATES: Wednesday 12th to Saturday 15th August at 8pm / Matinee Saturday 15th August at 2pm.
Running time approx 2 hours & 20 minutes including an interval.

This week Matt shot a dramatic reconstruction for Channel 9 hit show, ‘60-Minutes’. It is due to go to air within the next two weeks. Matt plays a reluctant suspect in the murder of a young girl in regional NSW. Exact date and time of transmission to be confirmed – watch this space!

AS YOU LIKE IT
Matt is appearing in ‘As You Like It’ for the Impulse Theatre Company playing Touchstone.
The production is on at the PACT Theatre in Erskineville. It is running for three weeks.
The direction (by Stephen Wallace) is based on the principles of the ‘poor theatre’ by Jerzy Grotowski. Schools productions are also running during this time.
Matt is appearing in ‘Shake-speare Part 2′ at St Lukes Hall in Enmore. The play is an Elizabethan docu-drama about the Shakespeare authorship issues and is running for two more weeks. Matt plays a range of historical characters including John Lyly, the Earl Of Sussex and Charles Arundel.
